Some coffees just feel familiar, comforting, and easy to love. Our Colombia Palestina Blend is exactly that kind of cup.
It comes from Palestina, a mountain town tucked into the southern reaches of Colombia's celebrated Huila department, where the Central and Eastern ranges of the Andes rise to meet each other. Up at these elevations, cool mountain air and rich volcanic soil slow the cherries down, letting them develop the sweetness and balance that have made Huila one of the most beloved names in Colombian coffee. Gathered by CafeHuila from a community of neighboring family farms, this blend captures the whole region in a single, wonderfully approachable cup.
Expect a smooth, rounded coffee with notes of milk chocolate and caramel, a gentle lift of orange, and a nutty, almond-like finish. It's the kind of everyday-brilliant coffee that's just as good with a slow sunrise as it is at the end of a long day.
Great flavor!!
I recently ordered the Colombia Medium Roast. The roasting itself was done well, and the flavor is pleasant overall. However, I was disappointed by the inconsistency in the beans. The bean size is not uniform—some are a nice, typical Arabica size, while others are noticeably smaller. Those smaller beans don't look like Arabica to me and could possibly be Robusta or lower-grade beans mixed in.
Overall, the roast quality is good, but I would like to see more consistent bean quality and size, especially for a coffee marketed as a Colombia medium roast.
Hey Bashar,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review! We're glad you enjoyed the coffee overall, but wanted to take a moment to address your concerns about bean size.
Most importantly, all of our coffee is purchased from the specialty market. We have never and will never source 'lower grade beans' to use in our Signature Blends. We do our best to source the highest quality, specialty grade coffee possible, from suppliers and producers that we trust. No exceptions.
There's also no robusta in this coffee. The only robusta we carry is in our Blast Off Blend, and even that one is hand-picked from the specialty market.
This specific Colombia comes from Palestina, in Colombia's Huila region, and is a blend built from small producers in the area. This particular lot happens to carry a mix of plant varieties, and different varieties often produce different sized beans. You may also be seeing a few peaberries: a cherry that occasionally produces one small, round seed instead of two flat halves. They turn up occasionally, and they're the same arabica as the rest of the bag.
I hope this helps! And in the future, if you'd like us to help you pick out a coffee with a single plant variety for the most consistent bean size, we're happy to do that. We have a number of them on our menu.
Thanks again!
It is good coffee! So lucky we have coffee roasters in Lincoln!
